The Kyoto City Junior Children’s Choir was founded in 1958 as the first public children’s choir run by a municipality in Japan. More than 200 members from fourth grade of elementary school to third grade of junior high school living in Kyoto City get together to sing and perform altogether or in groups. They also actively perform in separate groups made up of children in different ages as well as in a specially selected group called “Hibiki”. The choir is broadening the range of its activity and earnestly and ambitiously embracing new challenges in order to achieve further growth and progress.
